How many days does it take for it to really hit you that you are on vacation and not just temporarily out-of-the-office? Apparently about a week and a half. After a few more fumblings with proper clothing for the weather, new foods and surroundings, I believe we are finally in a vacation mode. There is no rush to do anything or to necessarily go anywhere. We've more or less just gone with the flow. And it has been so wonderful catching up with everyone, see the kids reconnect with counsins & friends and most importantly, just take long deep breaths after a hectic Spring and Summer.

Moreover, David and I have been able to spend the last five days in Greece celebrating our ten year anniversary thanks to Mummu and Pappa's "Summer Camp". While we decided to have no schedule, the default mode has become having late breakfast, laying on the beach reading novels and listening to the pool bar radio with forgotten selections from the 80s (Who remembers "One Way Ticket", "Funky Town" and "Forever Young"?), lunch at the beach restaurant, more reading or napping under the umbrella, catching a bus to town and enjoying slow dinners by the harbor.

We have one more day to do some souvenir shopping before we fly back to Helsinki. The kids also sound ready for us to come back - I suspect not so much becase they miss us between their playdates and pampering from Mummu and Pappa but because we're going to see the Moomins on Saturday... :)
