Last week there was a lot of media attention paid to climate change and global warming as the International Day of Climate Action was approaching. Whether it was connected to the Day or just a coincidence, the area where David’s work is located, decided to hold a “Save Energy Day”.

When I think of the many ways in which one could save energy at work, I think of shutting down lights in conference rooms that are not in use, keeping AC at a reasonable level, printing only necessary documents and recycling paper where ever possible.

The municipal area leaders around David’s work had other ideas. They wanted tangible results. Their solution? They shut down electricity to the entire business park, effectively closing down all the local companies for a day since no one could work in the darkness past the one hour computer battery lives. Electricity consumption went WAY down for the impacted municipal area and the leaders could show definite results for their efforts.

Gotta love the “You want Results? We’ll Give you Results” attitude.
